Shenzhou-12 project is the seventh manned mission in China. Aluminum alloy materials such as plates and forgings provided by SWA are available everywhere in launch vehicles and spaceships. In the "Shenzhou 12" project, SWA has undertaken the research and development of many kinds of aluminum alloy key materials for launch vehicles, spacecraft, such as high-precision aluminum alloy plates, profiles, bars and forged rings, which are mainly used for the main structures of spacecraft, such as connecting frame, intermediate frame, end frame and spacecraft surface, and the key parts of launch vehicles, such as transition ring, adapter frame, tank, etc. In addition, many parts of shenzhou-12, from the cabin skin to the astronaut seat, also use materials provided by SWA. These key materials have reached the technical indexes of high metallurgical quality and high performance, and have many varieties and specifications and large component sizes.


Shenzhou-12 spacecraft has adopted 4-meter-class rings. Compared with conventional rings, it is not easy for 4-meter-class rings to meet the requirements of the spacecraft. In the trial production process, SWA repeated tests, and finally designed a reasonable deformation ratio to pave the way for subsequent heat treatment. At the same time, in order to eliminate the unqualified performance caused by too large thickness in the process of heat treatment, the majority of technical and production personnel of SWA have overcome many technical difficulties in the production process, such as forging, reaming, rolling deformation matching, heat treatment and stress relief, so as to effectively reduce the residual stress after quenching caused by too large thickness. Through our hard work, we finally ensured that the comprehensive performance of the 4m ring not only met the standard requirements, but also exceeded 15% - 20% of the standard.
