As the largest aluminum processing enterprise in China, in recent years, Southwest Aluminum has provided a large number of key materials for the "Tianzhou", "Shenzhou" series spacecraft, "Chang'e" series satellites, "Long March" series rockets, "Tiangong" series target aircraft, "Mengtian", and "Wentian" experimental modules. Among them, a 7-series aluminum alloy thick plate has solved the major technical problem of new materials for aviation aluminum alloy in China, and the aluminum alloy integral ring with a diameter of 10 meters has set a new world record. Southwest Aluminum has also won honors such as the Outstanding Contribution Award for the Long March 5 carrier rocket.

The high-precision, high surface, and high-performance aluminum alloy materials required in the national aerospace field are characterized by a wide variety of specifications, large component sizes, complex shapes, and high process difficulty. For this key cutting-edge material that reflects the comprehensive strength of the country, foreign countries have long implemented technological monopolies and blockades against China. In the development of these key materials, Southwest Aluminum fully leverages its advantages in equipment, technology, and talent, boldly conducts independent research and development of new processes, materials, and products, effectively solving a series of major technical problems, continuously breaking foreign monopolies, and fully meeting the demand for aluminum alloy materials in national aerospace engineering.

As early as 2007, Southwest Aluminum overcame technical difficulties such as large ingot casting, forging billet opening, and ring rolling, and developed aluminum alloy forged rings with a diameter of 5 meters. Its unique core forging technology filled the domestic gap, and its products were applied to the new generation of Long March 5 launch vehicles. In 2016, Southwest Aluminum once again conquered key technologies such as rolling forming and heat treatment, and developed a super large specification aluminum alloy forged ring with a diameter of 10 meters, breaking the world record and solving major key technical problems for the development of China's heavy carrier rockets.

The Long March 5B Yao-4 carrier rocket used for the launch of the "Mengtian" experimental module uses a 2XXX alloy oversized plate for its low-temperature fuel storage tank. The component size is large, and the required plate width reaches over 2000mm. The material comprehensive performance and physical quality requirements are high, making production difficult. Southwest Aluminum Corporation has established a special research and development team to carry out systematic research and development work around the alloy casting, rolling, and supporting heat treatment processes. At the same time, in response to the problem of difficulty in meeting the unevenness standards of large width medium and thick plate plates, members of the research and development team and technical workers have jointly discussed and compared hundreds of process plans to control the unevenness of the oversized plate within the standard range, The physical control level of the unevenness of the board exceeds that of similar imported products, ensuring the development and production of the "Changwu" rocket and providing a solid guarantee for the launch of the experimental module of the Chinese space station.

For over 60 years, with generations of Long March carrier rockets igniting and taking off, China's own satellites orbiting the Earth, "Shenzhou" inquired about the sky, "Chang'e" rushed to the moon, "Tianwen" fell into fire, "Xihe" explored fire, "Tiangong" was built, and "Tianzhou" traveled back and forth. In 2022, China completed the construction of a space station in orbit, achieving the mission goal of the third step of China's manned space engineering "three-step" development strategy... The rapid development of China's aviation and aerospace industry is closely related to the continuous climb and breakthrough of Southwest Aluminum's people on the path of scientific research and the continuous challenge of limits.
